DC7 Comets V Red Stripes

Red Stripes took the lead from the start, and for all Comets efforts they were not able to combat the aggressive play of Red Stripes. A few dodgy decisions did not help their cause. Good shooting from Jenny Kirn, and Pat Geddes kept the score to within their grasp but it was not to be.
1st quarter Red stripes won by 11-8

2nd Quarter, with a couple of substitutions, again Comets battled Red Stripes and were once again thwarted, despite some good interceptions from Angela Wood and Trish Travell, with the shooting circle being aggressively defended by red Stripes Comets lost out again to Red Stripes 11-6.

3rd Quarter with some more substitution and a change in defence, Comets battled on and fought hard to break the domination of Red Stripes. Again there were some lovely interceptions made and the good solid centre court work from Caryn Fripp, Angela Wood and Julia Sandifer saw the ball get to the attacking quarter only for the passes to be intercepted by Red Stripes defence.
Red Stripes won the quarter 12-6

4th Quarter, with the defence switching back, Comets came out fighting, and added the aggression required to put Red Stripes on their back foot. Comets managed to force the ball into the shooting circle where Michelle Channer and Jenny Kirn were able to convert, putting us ahead for the first time, some lovely interceptions from the defence of Caryn Fripp and Shelley Framp and from Angela Wood gave Comets the chance to stay on top. And at last came out victorious winning the quarter 7-6.
