Comets started out slowly, and found that their opposition were raring to go and built up a steady lead before Comets were up to speed. With 7Up Yellows accurate shooting Comets struggled to slow the momentum. 1st quarter finishing 7up leading 13-7.

2nd quarter saw more even play, although Comets were struggling to convert the play into goals, with the tough defence of 7Up limiting their chances. Comets defence were also struggling to keep the ball out of the circle, as once in the hands of the shooters it was converted into goals, but did managed to slow them down. Quarter finished 22-13 to 7Up.

3rd quarter comets made some changes brought on two substitutes and switched the GD & GK.
This was advantageous in the defence, but the attacking end did not benefit from the changes.
7Up continued their advance by strong defence and accurate shooting, finishing the quarter 31-16 up.

4th quarter, after reversing some of the changes Comets came into their own, and put up a fight to regain a place in the game. With good solid centre court play some interceptions from, Julia Sandifer, Lesley Woodman, Shelley Framp and Barbara Walshaw, and good defence work from Trish Travell and Shelley Framp, and good work from the shooters Comets won the quarter, but it was not enough to turn around the game with 7Up winning 38-26.
